Psar Thmei, one of those busy bazaars, is an Art-Deco design market, constructed during 1934-37. It forms with a cross and a Babylonian ziggurat dome in 50 m tall, which maximise the ventilation. It was designed by Jean Desbois, and Louis Chauchon worked as architect. The name "Psar Thmei" means "Grand Market" in English, but people usually call it "Central Market" instead. This may cause confusion with "Psar Kandal" close to Wat Unalaum at the Riverside, because the name would translate to "Central Market" in English. However, today it is popular to the tourists by its present English name - "Central Market".
